Vancouver Brass Collective

Excellent brass chamber music and community.

The Vancouver Brass Collective started as an idea to get together with peers and perform works from the standard symphonic brass repertoire. Over the past few years, the group has grown into an organization with a multifaceted mission to forward the chamber brass repertoire while creating a community for brass musicians in the metro Vancouver Area.

The ensemble is made up of the most promising young brass and percussion professionals in the area. It is passionately lead by accomplished maestro Jaelem Bhate, who not only holds the ensemble to a high level but is also forges an innovative path forward for the group during these unprecedented time.

The organization and its members carry out its purpose through performance, recordings, outreach, and community partnerships. The Vancouver Brass Collective is generously supported by Long and McQuade Musical Instruments, Cherry Classics Publishing, and the City of Vancouver.

Vancouver Brass Collective musicians meet biweekly on Sunday evenings to rehearse. They prepare multiple programs of unique repertoire each year. The selections performed include music written for brass ensemble, arrangements of standard symphonic and wind literature, reimaginations of popular tunes, and new original works including some composed by ensemble members. As part of our mission to forward the brass chamber repertoire, the Vancouver Brass Collective engages local composers in the commissioning of new works for performance.
